I’m Vince Prior, an estate-planning attorney based in Waynesboro. Prior Law offers planning for residents of Ruckersville, Stanardsville, and throughout Greene County. Tell us what you want to get settled before choosing your next step.

Start with the change that brought you here

You may have moved, married, welcomed a child, lost someone, or changed your mind about who you would ask for help. Perhaps nothing dramatic happened—you simply want to know what is in the documents you signed years ago.

Bring the questions and any existing documents you have. We can discuss a first plan or review older documents in light of your current wishes.

A focused review begins with people and choices

  • Who do you want to provide for now?
  • Do your preferred decision-makers and backups still make sense?
  • What has changed about your home, accounts, or other property?
  • Are there instructions you no longer understand or no longer want?
  • Is the concern your own planning, or are you helping someone else find advice?

Our estate-planning services include wills, trusts, financial powers of attorney, and advance medical directives. We discuss the documents and implementation work appropriate to the plan you choose.

When your Greene County home is part of the review

Tell us whether you have the deed, whose names it shows, and whether you are considering a change involving the property. The Greene County Clerk of the Court’s official page identifies land records among the office’s services and provides contact information in Stanardsville.

A clear path from your first question to your plan

Start with a free phone call.

In a free 30-minute phone call, we discuss what you want to get settled and whether Prior Law is the right fit.

Design your plan.

If we are a good fit and you want to continue with estate planning, the next step is a paid 60–90-minute design meeting. We discuss the specifics of your plan. The meeting fee is credited toward your flat fee if you choose to proceed.

Choose your next step.

After the design meeting, you decide whether to move forward. If you do, you pay the remaining flat-fee balance, and we build your plan and work with you to put it in place.

An older plan is useful information

For the design meeting, it helps to know when your documents were prepared, where the signed versions are, and what prompted the review. If you cannot locate everything, say so. We can identify what is worth gathering next.

If you moved to Greene County from another state, tell us where your documents were prepared. The review starts with what you already have and the choices you want the plan to reflect now.

If you are helping a parent

Tell us who wants legal help and how that person would like to participate. We discuss the proposed client and suitable arrangements before moving into planning work. You can help organize the conversation without needing to decide which documents the person should have.

Know which conversation you need

If someone has died, or your request is for a particular property transfer, tell us at the start. We discuss the facts, scope, and fees for that matter. Our probate and estate-administration and real-estate services may be useful starting points.

Before scheduling the next step, we also discuss travel, technology, accessibility, and appropriate meeting and signing arrangements.

You do not need to decide between a will and a trust—or know whether an older plan should change—before contacting us. Begin with your concern, and we will discuss whether Prior Law is the right fit and how planning could proceed.
